Meet Lola
Like many things of beauty “It’s Souper” began as a dream and a way to find a place in a diverse community for Nigerian born, Lola Adeyemi, but has since grown far beyond that. After pursuing a Bachelors Degree at the University of Winnipeg – Manitoba, Lola came to Toronto with big dreams and worked successfully as an IT Consultant for many years. All through her career, she was always happy to bring a unique Nigerian dish to every potluck to the amazement and joy of her coworkers, she even won best potluck meal a couple of times with medals to show for it! It was absolutely gratifying for her taking back empty Tupperware home with rave reviews. The roots for a brand that would bring joy to people’s homes through food was starting to grow As a busy working woman who sometimes didn’t have the time to make a home-cooked meal – Lola would go looking for ready to eat soups in the grocery store but realized that there weren’t many exciting options, she always had to tweak the soups by adding more flavour and spice to them when she got home, thus defeating the purpose of ready to eat. Every time she surfed the grocery aisle, she thought: ” Oh my! This isn’t what soup should be – soup is vibrant, soup is exciting, soup is colorful, soup is an aromatic twist of flavours and textures exploding in your mouth, soup isn’t only for when its cold and dull outside, soup is for every day, soup should be food for your soul. SOUP is LIFE!!”. And It’s Souper was born. Lola’s Afro-Fusion Gourmet Soup and Sauce line was inspired by the fusion of cultures that exists in Canada, a yearning for authentic flavours from Africa, and a desire to share it with her community. #Soupislove |
